The Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board Ven. Fyneface Akah yesterday (Friday) played host to the Otonti Nduka Foundation for Values Education who came to seek for areas of collaboration with the Board.
Speaking, Ven. Akah hailed Emeritus Prof. Otonti Nduka for his good works and numerous contributions to the growth of Nigeria and Rivers State in particular and promised that the Board would not hesitate to collaborate and also support the foundation no matter how little knowing that the Board is not a revenue generating agency.
Earlier in his speech, Prof. Otonti Nduka had informed the Chairman that they were in his office on a courtesy call to seek areas of collaboration with the Board especially as it concerns the education of the Nigerian child and solicited the Chairman’s support in some of the ongoing projects being embarked upon by the foundation.
In her own speech, Prof. Joyce Akaninwo commended the UBE boss for doing a great work at the subsector and appealed to him to also do well to support the foundation which she said was set up to make a change in the life of the Nigerian child and society in general.
Otonti Nduka Foundation for Values Education was set up in May 2006 to revitalize the moral fibre of all segments of the Nigerian society through a systematic enunciation, propagation and inculcation of appropriate positive values capable of sustaining a modern democratic, scientifically oriented, multi-religious plural society.
Also yesterday, Ven. Akah received the Old Pupils of Rivers State Primary School who came to inform him of a number of activities they have streamlined for the celebration of this year’s Children’s Day and to seek partnership with the Board.
The Old Pupils were led by Mr. Daso George and has a popular comedian ‘Angel d Laugh’ as one of its members.
Present at the meeting were Board commissioners and directors.
Okechukwu Geoffrey is the Chief Press Officer UBE Board Port Harcourt.
